In Their Own Words: Lin Grosman

I’m Lin — a Certified Boudoir Photographer and owner of Lins Photo Studio in Fort Lauderdale. We’ve been recognized as the #1 boudoir studio in the city, two years running. My path wasn’t a straight line. I spent over a decade in tech. Somewhere along the way, I realized how much of my creativity I’d shelved. So photography pulled me back. What started as rediscovering my own artistic voice turned into a calling: helping other women find theirs.

So today I specialize in boudoir and branding photography for everyday women, not models. I want them to see themselves the way everyone else already does. After hundreds of sessions, almost every woman walks in nervous. And almost every one leaves saying the same thing: I wish I’d done this sooner.

I did a session for my 40th birthday. That’s when I had a lightning-bolt moment: this is what I was meant to do. So it was a true calling from the heart.

A session with me isn’t a photoshoot. Instead, it’s a space that captures who you actually are. It starts before you arrive: I guide you through wardrobe, mood, and what to expect. Then I greet you with champagne, a curated playlist, and a hair and makeup stylist who’s quietly magical. No rushing, no assembly line — I carve out a luxurious three-hour space entirely for you.

I offer romantic indoor sets for soft, cinematic moments. And adventurous outdoor sets overlook our lilypad-filled pond. Then the camera comes out — and this is the part I love most. I’m not here to pose you like a mannequin. Instead, I watch for your personality, your spark, the way you laugh when a song you love comes on. That’s what ends up in the final images: real emotion, not a performance. So women leave with photographs that actually look like them — at their most alive.

Boudoir, branding, and beauty. I also love concept shoots that let me take creative risks — chasing a vision and making it come to life. And I love telling stories with photography.

My community of photography colleagues — brilliant, generous, constantly pushing each other forward. I never feel like I’m doing this alone.

I’m also obsessive about continuing education. For example, I go to conferences every year and come back with new techniques and a renewed sense of why I do this. Outside of that, I collect art books and get to as many galleries and art fairs as I can. Being around other people’s vision quietly sharpens your own.

Watching someone’s face when they see themselves through my lens for the first time. There’s a moment — you can actually see it — where everything they thought about how they look just falls away. Then something new takes its place. Recognition. Pride. Sometimes tears. Always a little disbelief. That’s the moment I’m chasing every single session. It’s completely addicting.

Before we pick up the camera, I walk you through everything — posing basics, mindset, and a few tips. That way, you know exactly what the next two hours will look like. I demonstrate every pose myself so there’s no guesswork. And I put on really good music. As a result, it turns the whole thing into a celebration where you can let loose and just enjoy being fully present.

Powerful — not in a forced, affirmation-poster way, but in a real, grounded way. I want them to look at their images and recognize the beauty that’s been inside them all along. Not a new version of themselves — the truest one. So the photos are gorgeous, but the real takeaway is the way she sees herself afterward.

My Breast Cancer Survivor sessions touch my heart like nothing else. My own mother is a survivor, so this work is deeply personal. These are women who’ve faced that fight. Helping them see their bodies as powerful and beautiful again is one of the greatest privileges of my career.

I also love milestone sessions — the 40th, 50th, 60th birthdays. Women often arrive carrying decades of “I should have done this when I was younger.” But by the end, they’re owning the room.

Picture a massive wall of flowers built right into my garden. Cascading blooms, layered textures, candlelight everywhere, and strands of light woven through it all. Something completely over the top and impossibly romantic. I’m drawn to ethereal, fantasy-driven concepts — imagery that feels like a fairytale. It lets a woman step fully outside her everyday self into something magical.

Working on your business is just as critical as working in it. You can be incredible at your craft and still burn out if you’re not building the foundation underneath it. And value your time fiercely — only work with people who value it too.

Invest in your education, always. Work on your business as much as you work in it. Have a strategy and keep moving forward even when it feels slow or scary. Be relentless about the work you actually want to create.

And dream big and out loud — just balance the dreaming with action. Treat yourself like the most important client you have. Because you are.

The boudoir workshop I’m hosting with Marco on October 10th — I’m equal parts excited to teach and to learn. I’m also leaning into a dark and moody genre: a more mysterious, cinematic vibe with rich shadows and deeper tones. So it’s different from what I’m known for, and that’s exactly why I want to play in it.

More outdoor work — what I love calling adventure boudoir — sessions that get out of four walls and into nature. Poolside sessions too: water, sun, effortless glamour.

Stylistically I’m drawn to a ’60s glam editorial vibe — old Hollywood meets modern confidence. I want to attract clients who love that aesthetic and are excited to play in it with me.

Think luxury hotel meets garden escape — calm and curated. It makes you feel like you’ve stepped somewhere completely outside your everyday life. Just beyond the studio doors, our lilypad pond and outdoor sets give you a whole second world to play in.

Inside, the client closet is its own kind of magic. It holds hundreds of bodysuits, body jewelry, angel wings, robes, and statement pieces. They help you experiment with mood and character. It’s the ultimate girls’ hideaway — the kind of place where a few hours disappear and you don’t even notice.
