A Declaration
of Independence

For the boudoir photographer who has been overlooked long enough.

This is what independence looks like. Boudoir photographers doing their thing, their way, in their own homes and studios.

When in the course of a career it becomes necessary for a photographer to dissolve the role that has kept them at the edge of the room, and to take their place among the people who built this craft, a decent respect for the work requires that they say plainly why.

We hold this to be self evident. What you built is not a booth at someone else's event. It is not the line item under the caterer and the florist. It is not the credit in a social media post.

It is the room where a client walks in unsure and walks out changed, and that room is yours.

For too long there has been no trusted place to search. A client looking for boudoir has been forced to weed through online search results and hope the person they find really is all the things they say they are. We get lumped in with every other camera for hire, given less exposure, less inclusion, and less recognition than the rest of the field is handed by default. Booked last. Listed last. Found last, if we are found at all. The overlooked, the uncelebrated, the last name in the field we built.

That ends here. We are not a footnote. We are founders.

Let this stand as our declaration:

That a boudoir photographer deserves to be the first name in their zip code, not the last.
That a boudoir photographer gets to be celebrated for their individuality rather than blend in, presented so distinctly that their clients recognize them on sight.
That clients kept close are clients kept local, and a directory built by photographers who choose to stand together keeps them here.
That belonging is not a status you buy. It is a room you are finally in, with the people who have been doing this work beside you all along.
That there are seven seats per state, and not one more. When a state's seven are seated, the founding rate and the founding badge close behind them, and they do not open again.

And this is not declared from a desk. It is declared on the road. This summer we are driving the country to meet the boudoir photographers who have already signed, state by state, kitchen table by kitchen table, until the seven in every state are seated and the list closes itself.
